Gene Description

PRRX1, paired related homeobox 1, is a transcription factor that induces EMT during development and tumor invasion, and overexpression is associated with metastasis and poor prognosis in colorectal cancer (PMID: 23201163, PMID: 23807160). Downregulation of PRRX1 results in increased stemness and is associated with poor prognosis in several tumor types (PMID: 23201163, PMID: 25404478), and has been observed in salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (PMID: 31657086) and clear cell renal cell carcinoma (PMID: 31490389).
