Gene Symbol DGCR8
Synonyms C22orf12 | DGCRK6 | Gy1 | pasha
Gene Description DGCR8, DGCR8 microprocessor complex subunit, encodes a nuclear RNase III that interacts with Drosha, forming a complex that plays a role in primary microRNA processing (PMID: 16963499, PMID: 15531879, PMID: 15574589) and microRNA biogenesis, which is required for embryonic stem cell renewal (PMID: 17259983) and skin development (PMID: 19114655). Mutations in DGCR8 have been identified in follicular thyroid carcinoma (PMID: 34171097) and Wilm's tumor (PMID: 25670082, PMID: 25670083), and increased DGCR8 expression has been identified in invasive ductal breast carcinoma (PMID: 26804549).
