Gene Description

PPARG, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma, is a transcription factor and member of the proliferator-activated receptor family of nuclear receptors and regulates adipocyte differentiation and glucose homeostasis (PMID: 9209705, PMID: 30651555). PPARG fusions are frequently observed with PAX8 in follicular thyroid carcinoma (PMID: 25069464) and missense mutations and amplification have been reported in luminal bladder cancer (PMID: 30651555).
