Gene Symbol PPP6C
Synonyms PP6 | PP6C
Gene Description PPP6C, protein phosphatase 6 catalytic subunit, encodes the catalytic subunit of the trimeric holoenzyme protein phosphatase 6 (PP6), which regulates dephosphorylation of Aurora Kinase A (PMID: 24336958), and plays a role in DNA damage repair, chromosome segregation, and negative regulation of inflammatory signaling (PMID: 30036567, PMID: 26868000, PMID: 21451261). PPP6C mutations are associated with melanoma (PMID: 24336958, PMID: 23729733), and basal cell carcinoma (PMID: 26950094), and upregulation of PPP6C has been demonstrated in glioblastoma (PMID: 22158480).
