Gene Description PRKAA2, 5'-AMP-activated protein kinase catalytic subunit alpha-2, is a catalytic subunit of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), an energy sensor protein kinase that plays a key role in regulating cellular energy metabolism (PMID: 24895169). Prkaa2 loss of function mutations have been identified in some cancers (PMID: 26934201) and Ube2o ubiquitination of Prkaa2 promotes tumor growth in mice (PMID: 28162974).
