Gene Description

MAPK6, mitogen-activated protein kinase 6, is an atypical member of the Map kinase family involved in several cellular functions including differentiation (PMID: 12808096), proliferation (PMID: 24585635), and cell cycle progression (PMID: 12915405), and regulates the epithelial secretome including induction of IL-8, a role critical for chemotaxis (PMID: 32314963). Upregulation of MAPK6 has been identified in lung cancer (PMID: 22505454) and liver cancer (PMID: 29764463).
