Gene Description

PTPRK, protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type K, is a signaling molecule that negatively regulates EGFR signaling, thereby playing a role in cell invasion, migration, and proliferation (PMID: 23552869, PMID: 25609089), and is also a putative negative regulator of Wnt/CTNBB1 signaling (PMID: 31934854). Decreased expression and molecular alterations of PTPRK have been observed in breast (PMID: 23552869) and colon cancer (PMID: 22895193), and a PTPRK-RSPO3 fusion has been observed in colorectal cancer (PMID: 26700806) and colorectal traditional serrated adenoma (PMID: 30916365, PMID: 26924569).
