| Gene Description | SDC1, syndecan 1, encodes CD138 and is a member of the syndecan family of heparan sulfate proteoglycans that interacts with several other molecules including cell matrix components, growth factors, and adhesion molecules, and plays a role in cell adhesion, cell signaling, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (PMID: 26420915, PMID: 31810587). Altered SDC1 expression has been observed in several tumor types (PMID: 26420915, PMID: 31810587), including high SDC1 expression in breast cancer (PMID: 29666962, PMID: 30598194), and gallbladder cancer (PMID: 18544939), and decreased SDC1 expression in colorectal cancer (PMID: 31182980). | ||||||||||
