Synonyms BOS3 | DFNA23 | TIP39
Gene Description SIX1, SIX homeobox 1, is a transcription factor that regulates target gene expression (PMID: 18989625) through interaction with transcriptional co-activators, such as EYA proteins (PMID: 25555392, PMID: 36750914), or co-repressors, including DACH1 (PMID: 14628042, PMID: 36750914), and plays a role in development, cell proliferation, and cell cycle progression (PMID: 9770533, PMID: 14628042, PMID: 10801845). SIX1 mutations have been identified in Wilms tumor (PMID: 33281191, PMID: 25670082, PMID: 25670083), and increased expression of SIX1 has been observed in several tumor types (PMID: 40164243), including breast cancer, which occurs with SIX1 amplification (PMID: 15805264, PMID: 38031089).
