Gene Description

SRF, serum response factor, encodes a member of the MADS domain family of transcription factors (PMID: 16928770), and plays a role in embryogenesis (PMID: 9799237), muscle development (PMID: 12867591, PMID: 15647354), and cardiac function and gene expression (PMID: 11439182, PMID: 8887666, PMID: 11247792). Increased SRF expression has been observed in metastatic gastric cancer (PMID: 25080937), hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 17982656), and metastatic colorectal carcinoma (PMID: 19082443), and SRF fusions have been identified in rhabdomyosarcoma (PMID: 23463663), myofibroma (PMID: 28248815), and myoepithelioma (PMID: 28947952).
