Gene Description SRP72, signal recognition particle 72, is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) (PMID: 18418087, PMID: 27899666) that targets nascent proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum (PMID: 23414305), and plays diverse roles in cellular functions (PMID: 34113652) including radioresistance (PMID: 28494188) and transcription regulation (PMID: 23048028). Mutations in SRP72 have been identified in childhood myelodysplastic neoplasm (PMID: 37176611) and familial aplastic anemia (PMID: 22541560), and hypomethylation and overexpression of SRP72 have been identified in thyroid cancer (PMID: 26718127).
