Gene Description STIM1, stromal interaction molecule 1, is a calcium sensor (PMID: 16005298) involved in store-operated calcium entry (SOCE), which activates calcium channels leading to increased calcium influx (PMID: 16208375, PMID: 16005298, PMID: 37932320), and plays a role in DNA damage response (PMID: 38224453), cell cycle control (PMID: 26917047), autophagy (PMID: 27791458), and podosome formation (PMID: 28912430). Overexpression of Stim1 has been observed in cervical cancer (PMID: 21876174), head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 28494008), gastric cancer (PMID: 27035326), colorectal cancer (PMID: 25381814), and non-small cell lung cancer (PMID: 31564210).
