Gene Description

TERC, telomerase RNA component, is the RNA component of telomerase that serves as template for new telomeric repeats, therefore is essential for telomerase function and regulates chromosomal stability and cell senescence (PMID: 27245259). TERC amplification and/or overexpression have been identified in lung squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 31837325), cervical cancer (PMID: 31685833), esophageal squamous cell precursor lesions (PMID: 30311151), and prostate cancer (PMID: 28888037).
