Gene Description

TFE3, transcription factor binding to IGHM enhancer 3, is a transcription factor that plays a role in developmental and cellular processes, including targeting genes downstream of TGF-beta signaling (PMID: 15118077). TFE3 fusions are commonly associated with renal cell carcinoma (PMID: 29713041, PMID: 30622287, PMID: 24455396), perivascular epithelioid cell tumors (PMID: 26975036, PMID: 31309284), alveolar soft-part sarcoma (PMID: 30347044), and epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (PMID: 32151991).
