Gene Description MUC5B, mucin 5B, oligomeric mucus/gel-forming, is a large gel-forming glycoprotein that is a major component of mucus in the saliva, respiratory tract, and cervix (PMID: 9729478, PMID: 19783639). Abnormal expression of MUC5B is associated with breast cancer (PMID: 23056409, PMID: 22269464) and lung cancer (PMID: 25733373).
