| Gene Description | TWIST1, twist family bHLH transcription factor 1, encodes a transcription factor that acts as an activator and repressor, regulating the expression of genes involved in several cellular processes, including embryogenesis (PMID: 21876555), epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (PMID: 38139368), and apoptosis (PMID: 10485844, PMID: 26880587). Increased expression of Twist1 has been observed in several tumor types (PMID: 21876555), including hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 17000670), prostate cancer (PMID: 15958559), and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 16822877). | ||||||||||||
