Gene Description XBP1, X-box binding protein 1, is a transcription factor that regulates the unfolded protein response (UPR) during endoplasmic reticulum stress (PMID: 40086337) and plays a role in MHC class II gene expression (PMID: 1903538), NK cell immune response (PMID: 31086333), and cell proliferation and differentiation (PMID: 25713103, PMID: 30355343). Overexpression of Xbp1 has been observed in numerous tumor types including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 27725908), breast cancer (PMID: 25280941), lung adenocarcinoma (PMID: 35059734), oral squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 29916547), hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 29627568), and osteosarcoma (PMID: 26633383).
