Gene Description PDHX, pyruvate dehydrogenase complex component X, encodes the non-catalytic E3 binding protein subunit of the PDH complex, which converts pyruvate to acetyl-CoA for entry into the citric acid cycle (PMID: 14638692) and plays a role in regulating cellular metabolism (PMID: 2227213, PMID: 36889194). Increased Pdhx expression has been observed in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 33964039, PMID: 36889194) and an FGFR2-PDHX fusion has been identified in gastric cancer (PMID: 38267212).
