Gene Description FGF23, fibroblast growth factor 23, is an endocrine FGF that activates FGFR signaling in conjunction with an alpha-Klotho cofactor and plays a role in regulation of mineral and vitamin D metabolism and cell proliferation (PMID: 26567701, PMID: 26483756, PMID: 25772309). FGF23 single nucleotide polymorphisms have been associated with increased risk for prostate cancer (PMID: 24053368).
