Gene Description USP9X, ubiquitin specific peptidase 9 X-linked, is a deubiquitinase that removes polyubiquitin chains and regulates several target proteins and their associated pathways (PMID: 25672900), including SMAD4 (PMID: 19135894), MCL1 (PMID: 20023629), and beta-catenin (PMID: 10620020), and plays a role in several cellular processes (PMID: 25672900), including cell cycle progression (PMID: 19135894), protein trafficking (PMID: 19341794), and cell death and survival (PMID: 20005844, PMID: 35608338). USP9X mutations have been identified in gingivo-buccal oral squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 24292195) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (PMID: 28461505), and a USP9X-DDX3X fusion has been identified in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (PMID: 28033648).
