Gene Symbol SETD3
Synonyms C14orf154 | hSETD3
Gene Description SETD3, SET domain containing 3, actin N3(tau)-histidine methyltransferase, encodes a chromatin modifier that retains cytoskeleton integrity through actin methylation (PMID: 30526847, PMID: 30626964, PMID: 34685411), and plays a role in regulating gene transcription in muscle cell differentiation through methylation of H3K4 and H3K6 (PMID: 21832073) and negative regulation of VEGF expression (PMID: 27845446, PMID: 29950684). A SETD3 fusion with ALK has been identified in lung adenocarcinoma (PMID: 36495785) and increased SETD3 expression has been identified in several tumor types (PMID: 33157163), including hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 31654063) and renal cell carcinoma (PMID: 26488939).
