Gene Description CUL4A, cullin 4A, is a component of cullin–RING ubiquitin ligase complexes that acts as a scaffold protein, mediating protein ubiquitination and degradation, and plays a role in regulation of the cell cycle (PMID: 24522884), hematopoiesis (PMID: 14609952, PMID: 23520338), nucleotide excision repair (PMID: 22039351), and histone methylation (PMID: 17041588). Amplification and overexpression of CUL4A has been observed in several tumor types (PMID: 24522884), including breast cancer (PMID: 9721878, PMID: 19995430), hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 12029633), and malignant pleural mesothelioma (PMID: 19929949).
