Gene Description

AFAP1L2, actin filament associated protein 1 like 2, is an adapter protein that binds to actin and activates Src signaling, thus regulates cell survival, motility, and morphology (PMID: 26998266). AFAP1L2 expression has been identified in esophageal, gastric, pancreatic, breast, prostate cancer and osteosarcoma (PMID: 22805860, PMID: 22927913, PMID: 24581082, PMID: 26191231, PMID: 26045762, PMID: 27509056), and an AFAP1L2-RET fusion has been identified in thyroid cancer (PMID: 28351223).
