Gene Description HAVCR2, hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 2, encodes an inhibitory immune checkpoint receptor that is expressed on immune cells including CD8 and CD4-positive T-cells, regulatory T-cells, dendritic cells, macrophages, and natural killer cells (PMID: 31676858) and plays a role in the regulation of adaptive and innate immune responses (PMID: 18006747, PMID: 28258697, PMID: 27192565). Increased HAVCR2 expression has been identified in gastric cancer (PMID: 26464703), and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes in non-small cell lung cancer (PMID: 22363469), hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 22505239), and melanoma (PMID: 20819923), and is a target for immunotherapy (PMID: 30410357).
