Gene Description ATAD1, ATPase family AAA domain containing 1, is an ATPase that functions in the extraction of mislocalized tail-anchored proteins from the outer mitochondrial membrane as part of the quality control mechanism (PMID: 24843043, PMID: 32886535), and in regulation of synaptic membrane receptor expression (PMID: 21496646). An FGFR2-ATAD1 fusion has been identified in medullary thyroid carcinoma (PMID: 38127829) and ATAD1 is frequently co-deleted with PTEN in prostate adenocarcinoma (PMID: 36409067).
