Gene Description

CCND2, cyclin D2, encodes for the D2-type cyclin protein, which regulates CDK kinases in order to promote the transition phases of the cell cycle (PMID: 10416984). CCND2 amplification has been observed in malignant glioma (PMID: 10416984) and glioblastoma (PMID: 31568682), while loss of Ccnd2 expression has been associated with promoter hypermethylation in renal cell cancer (PMID: 27583477) and in breast and lung cancer (PMID: 30308939), and mutations have been reported in AML (PMID: 27843138).
