Gene Description

BOC, BOC cell adhesion associated, oncogene regulated, encodes a member of the immunoglobulin/fibronectin III repeat family of receptor-like proteins that binds to Sonic hedgehog and regulates downstream signaling (PMID: 16647304, PMID: 21664576), plays a role in myogenic differentiation (PMID: 11782431, PMID: 12634428), synaptic development, and axon guidance (PMID: 17086203, PMID: 22445340). Increased BOC expression has been identified in medulloblastoma (PMID: 25263791), and a fusion with PLAG1 has been observed in lipoblastoma (PMID: 30857637) and uterine mesenchymal tumors (PMID: 30489320).
