Gene Description TTC5, tetratricopeptide repeat domain 5, encodes Strap, which functions as a cofactor in the DNA damage response, acting to potentiate Tp53 activity and as a cofactor for HSF1 in the heat shock response, acting to prevent apoptosis (PMID: 18719389, PMID: 23559008), and also regulates of degradation of tubulin mRNAs (PMID: 31727855). Decreased expression of Ttc5 has been observed in thyroid cancer (PMID: 31648166).
