Gene Description ATG5, autophagy related 5, is a component of autophagy, which regulates formation of the autophagosome (PMID: 36062813) and plays a role in various cellular processes including immune response (PMID: 20171125, PMID: 18996346), B-cell development (PMID: 18188005), and cellular differentiation (PMID: 19844159, PMID: 25227738). ATG5 mutations have been identified in gastrointestinal cancers (PMID: 19197948) and decreased expression of Atg5 has been observed in colorectal cancer (PMID: 22993366).
