Gene Description

NUAK1, NUAK family kinase 1, encodes an AMPK-related kinase and plays a role in cell survival and the regulation of metabolic homeostasis (PMID: 23873311) and regulates protein phosphatase 1 (PP1) activity to promote spliceosome activity (PMID: 32006464). Elevated expression of NUAK1 has been linked to prognosis in a variety of cancer types including gastric cancer (PMID: 24943992), ovarian cancer (PMID: 27833898), non-small cell lung carcinoma (PMID: 23215946), and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (PMID: 30121842).
