Gene Variant Descriptions PTEN C124S lies within the phosphatase tensin-type domain of the Pten protein (UniProt.org). C124S demonstrates Pten protein stability similar to wild-type protein, however, does not rescue spheroid formation (PMID: 32366478), demonstrates loss of phosphatase activity (PMID: 9256433, PMID: 22413754, PMID: 25263454), and fails to suppress cell proliferation and migration in culture (PMID: 17213812, PMID: 25263454, PMID: 34943931).
